Back to School Tips for Parents

Be organized

Be on time (yes you may have to get up earlier)

Make sure the child gets to bed on time and gets proper rest

Make sure you provide your child with proper nutrition (something I had to work on due to money restraints)

Ask and check on homework assignments and tests (yes, you can look in their bookbag/backpack)

Do quizzes at home for practice and teach them how to pray before their exams

Start reading/studying the next chapter immediately after a test is over

Take books/notes in the car when going places after school and on the weekend

ALWAYS do extra credit

Get involved—
Be in the PTA, a room mother, chaperone, and/or teacher’s assistant (Be visible)

Go have lunch with your child sometime

Offer incentives for dong good work and making good grades

Get a tutor if you have to (Ray had them)

Always have something educational for them to do during school breaks

Teach them a holistic perspective about the “real” American and global history
